Kelly Yun
Kelly Yun brings over 15 years of leadership experience in relationship-building, strategic fundraising, and organizational development across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Her commitment to educational equity and community impact is rooted in her personal journey as a first-generation college graduate from a low-income, immigrant family. This perspective drives her passion for fostering access to high-quality education and empowering students to thrive.
Before joining the Oakland Public Education Fund, Kelly held pivotal roles in the City of Oakland and in higher education. At UC Berkeley, she spearheaded donor engagement efforts, securing significant philanthropic investments through personalized outreach and data-informed strategies. She also served as an advisor on the Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Committee and the department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program. Her continued leadership earned her the university’s Achievement Award for exceptional performance. As Chief of Staff for the Oakland Police Commission, she demonstrated expertise in navigating complex public policy initiatives, stakeholder collaboration, and organizational strategy during pivotal community moments.
In addition to these roles, Kelly consulted for the Spanish Ministry of Education as a North American Cultural Ambassador, where she led bilingual education initiatives and facilitated cross-cultural exchange programs in Madrid. She also sits on the Board of Directors for nonprofits focused on affordable housing and educational access, reflecting her ongoing commitment to equity and opportunity. Kelly holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University with a concentration in behavioral economics and public policy and a Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys venturing out on scenic hikes, experimenting in the kitchen, and traveling to new places.
