Life Changing Media Arts & Technology Training
Youth Beat provides life-changing media arts and technology training to Oakland youth. Working in partnership with KDOL-TV, the Oakland Unified School District’s TV station, Youth Beat offers free, accredited training programs through OUSD and Laney College– building a career pipeline for low-income students in the media industry.
Students Learn from Professionals
Youth Beat students learn from experienced media professionals. They gain confidence and employable skills, then use those skills to express themselves and amplify community voices. In the process, they become more engaged in school and more future oriented.Employing Students
Youth Beat also employs graduates and experienced students to work for their full-service media production company, Youth Beat PRO. Through these projects, youth deepen their skills and gain real-life work experience while providing high-quality media services to clients in the Bay Area.
