Supporting Professional Development
Educator support has always been built into Salesforce’s investment, including professional learning for computer science teachers, mathematics instructional coaches, and PIF-supported teacher development and retention strategies. But since the 2019-20 school year, Salesforce made their support explicit by extending $2.4 million to reinforce educator recruitment, retention, and professional learning at OUSD. This funding bolsters the entire educator career lattice by supporting staff who wish to become teachers to get their credential, educators on emergency permits to get permanent credentials, current teachers to become teacher leaders and school leaders, and new school leaders to receive mentorship and sustain strong performance. The investment also allows professional learning in all core subject areas for current OUSD teachers. These learning opportunities enable educators to collaborate on best practices, offer feedback, build systems of support, and inspire each other to improve their practice and, ultimately, student outcomes
