Oakland Community United for Educational Success Project:
Oakland CUES
The Oakland Community United for Educational Success (Oakland CUES) Project is a grant initiative aiming to increase attendance and engagement of disconnected students and families following COVID school closures. It focuses on strengthening partnerships between Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and the school district, targeting students facing enrollment, attendance, and achievement challenges. The project has three SMART goals: partnership and collaboration, returning to school and attending daily, and support for improved on-track graduation. It also includes data collection plans, a timeline of activities, and the scope of work related to attendance and graduation goals. Funding is awarded in multiple installments with budget reports required.
During the first phase of the project, we funded 12 organizations with larger grants and in the second iteration, we have funded 15 organizations with smaller grants.
